BWT bestprotect Scale & Corrosion Water Filter Cartridge
BWT bestprotect is the protection specialist. It prevents limescale and gypsum deposits and keeps the pH of the filtered water stable, reducing the risk of corrosion in boilers, pipes and heating elements. It's the choice for hard or sulphate-rich water, and for combi ovens and steamers as well as espresso machines. Machine Ltd is the New Zealand distributor of BWT water+more.
What it does
- Scale and gypsum protection – a high-performance ion exchanger reduces hardness and balances the mineral content.
- Corrosion protection – balanced mineralisation and a consistently high pH minimise corrosion risk.
- Clean, neutral water – silver-treated activated carbon reduces chlorine, organic substances, odours and off-flavours.
- Particle filtration – coarse and fine particle filters remove sand, rust and suspended matter.
Which size do I need?
Use our BWT filter selector: slide in your daily water use and water hardness, and it recommends the right size and shows how often to change the cartridge.
bestprotect treats all of the water (bypass 0). As a guide, on soft water up to 125 mg/L the S treats about 855 L, the V 2,140 L, the XL 5,125 L and the 2XL 8,570 L, up to BWT's 12-month maximum. Capacities are lower on harder water.

Installation and replacement
The cartridge screws into a BWT besthead filter head – see the BWT Filterhead & Flush Kit. Replace it every 6–12 months, or sooner if its capacity is used up. Our technicians can install and change filters as part of a commercial service.
FAQ
When should I choose bestprotect over bestmax PREMIUM?
Choose bestprotect for hard or sulphate-rich water (for example some bore and rural supplies), and for combi ovens and steamers. On soft town water, bestmax PREMIUM usually gives better-tasting coffee.
Does it come with a filter head?
No – the cartridge is sold on its own and fits the BWT besthead filter head.
Can I buy at trade prices?
