BWT bestmax PREMIUM Water Filter Cartridge for Espresso Machines
BWT bestmax PREMIUM is the water filter most cafés choose for espresso. It protects your machine from limescale and adds magnesium – a natural flavour carrier – so coffee and tea taste fuller and more consistent. Machine Ltd is the New Zealand distributor of BWT water+more.
What it does
- Scale protection – a high-performance ion exchanger reduces calcium and carbonate hardness that causes limescale in boilers and heating elements.
- Better flavour – BWT Magnesium Technology exchanges calcium for magnesium for a rounder taste in the cup.
- Clean, neutral water – silver-treated activated carbon reduces chlorine, organic substances, odours and off-flavours.
- Particle filtration – coarse and fine particle filters remove sand, rust and suspended matter.
Which size do I need?
Use our BWT filter selector: slide in your daily water use and water hardness, and it recommends the right size and bypass setting and shows how often to change the cartridge.
As a guide, on soft water up to 125 mg/L (typical of most New Zealand town supplies, on bypass setting 3) the S treats about 1,070 L, the V 2,570 L, the XL 6,140 L and the 2XL 10,000 L, up to BWT's 12-month maximum. Capacities are lower on harder water. Not sure of your water hardness? Ask us and we can test it.

FAQ
Is bestmax PREMIUM or bestprotect better for my café?
On soft to medium water, bestmax PREMIUM gives the best-tasting coffee. On hard or sulphate-rich water, or for combi ovens, choose BWT bestprotect, which also protects against corrosion and gypsum.
Does it come with a filter head?
No – the cartridge is sold on its own. You need a BWT besthead filter head, which stays in place when you change cartridges.
Can I buy at trade prices?
Yes. Cafés, technicians and resellers can apply for a trade account for wholesale pricing and box-quantity discounts.
