Machine Ltd is an official PUQpress reseller in New Zealand. We supply, install and service PUQpress automatic tampers for cafés across New Zealand, including the grinder-mounted M-series models built for Mahlkönig and Markibar grinders.
Why service your PUQpress with us?
- We service the grinder and the tamper together. Most PUQpress M-series tampers sit under a Mahlkönig or Markibar grinder. As Mahlkönig's official NZ service partner, we can service the whole grind-and-tamp station in one visit.
- Genuine PUQpress parts. We use original PUQpress parts and keep common spares, including tamper heads and clamps, in stock in Auckland.
- Warranty repairs. PUQpress tampers supplied by Machine Ltd come with a 24 month warranty from the date of purchase.

Common PUQpress problems we fix
- Inconsistent or wrong tamp pressure: the tamper needs recalibrating. PUQpress suggests starting at about 14 kg (30 lb) and adjusting from there, and a calibration check confirms the tamp matches the setting.
- Uneven or damaged tamps: a worn, damaged or dirty tamper head, or coffee build-up around the head.
- Tamper not triggering when the portafilter goes in: usually a sensor issue or coffee build-up around the sensor.
- Changing basket or tamper size: swapping the tamper head takes seconds, but some size changes also need a different upper clamp, which we can supply and fit.
- Error messages or motor faults: diagnosed and repaired in our workshop.
Looking after your PUQpress
Brush coffee off the tamper head and surrounds daily, and check the tamp pressure setting whenever you change coffee or basket. We check calibration and tamper wear as part of every grinder service, so the grinder and tamper stay matched.
Service pricing
All prices exclude GST. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
- On-site labour: $109 per hour (30 minute minimum)
- Standard call-out: $109 (includes travel within 20 km)
- Emergency call-out: $163.50 – a technician on site within 2 hours, guaranteed
- After hours (weekdays 6–8am and 6–8pm, weekends and public holidays): $163.50 per hour and $163.50 call-out
- Travel beyond 20 km: $1.04 per km
Parts are quoted separately. PUQpress units can also be dropped off at our workshop at Unit 8, 101 Diana Drive, Wairau Valley.

Machine Ltd is an official PUQpress reseller in New Zealand. We service PUQpress tampers from our Auckland workshop and on site, often alongside the grinder they're mounted to.
What tamp pressure should I use?
PUQpress recommends starting at about 14 kg (30 lb) and adjusting up or down depending on how your shots taste and run.
Can I change the tamper size myself?
Swapping the tamper head is quick and easy. Some size changes also need a different upper clamp. Contact us and we'll supply and fit the right one.
Can you service a PUQpress I didn't buy from you?
Yes. We service all PUQpress tampers, wherever they were bought, including earlier generations.
What warranty do PUQpress tampers have?
PUQpress tampers supplied by Machine Ltd have a 24 month warranty from the date of purchase.
