— Oatly X Slayer Latte Art Throwdown
A huge congratulations to Henry Yoon on the win, and to Lauren Han as runner up.
A lot of things couldn’t have happened without a lot of help from a lot of people. First, thank you to Oatly and Slayer Espresso for collaborating with us on this one. We think the night showed the endless possibilities of what can be done with alternative milk and top-notch machinery.
The lattes must go in something - big thank you to Acme Cups for supplying the Roman cup range for us.
We had three brilliant judges last night – Dove Chen, Kim Boyd, and David Huang. These guys are founts of knowledge and gave us plenty of invaluable insight.
There was some pretty epic catering last night. We had sammies from Hero Sandwich House, Pilsner from Sawmill Brewery, and a chilled red from Everyday Wine. And how good were those martinis? Big thanks to Honest Rum for supplying their delicious six-spiced rum.
Massive thank you to our MC, Emily Bain, who made the trip up from New Plymouth to get on the mic and keep things running smoothly.
Of course, thank you to everyone who competed. It was great to see so many talented baristas getting in there and showing us what you can do. You’re all awesome.
We had Connor Lambert on the Slayer Steam EP as shotmaker for the night – big thank you to you Connor for helping keep things chugging along.
Thank you to our talented DJ, Leo CW – the tunes were great, and it was wonderful to see everyone have a boogie.
You probably saw the live projection of the latte art up on the wall – we’d like to say a big thank you to Joseph Nicholson for rigging that all up, and for being there throughout the evening as our photographer/technical support.
See you at the next one.
